inside LG15

With the upcoming changes to LG15.com and the end of the lonelygirl15 series (read the original message here and Amanda’s follow-up here), there have been quite a few questions about the future. People have a lot of concerns about the end of lonelygirl15, the new show in the LG15 universe, and the new website that is coming soon.

There will be a live chat with the community to answer some of these questions. (The date will be announced on Inside.) In addition to that, Virginian9000 suggested some type of live blog where people can send in their questions or concerns.

Obviously, not everything can be answered, but we will reply to as many of these as possible with as much detail as we can provide. Please be patient if we don’t respond right away - it’s a very busy time for the cast and crew!

will actual characters from lonelygirl15 continue their storylines in the new upcoming series?
I’m wondering if there will be any familiar characters/actors from the LG15 show, or will this ruin the Aug 1st finale if you tell us?

Response:Great question, but I wouldn’t want to ruin the finale for everyone. Until then, we cannot release specific details about the plot of the new show.

Response:Zak, yes it will! Vblogging is LG15.

I’ve been actually agonizing on whether I should get involved in this discussion again. It’s hard not talking about the past. but I think Apo said what needed to be said in that regard. I really believe a lot of hurt feelings could be avoided if you were absolutely clear about what you mean by your EQAL concept. Miles said, “The most important thing to us is the interaction between the characters, the show, the community members, and the community videos.”

Based on past history I take this to mean you want community members to make video comments as themselves and offer opinions and advice. Unfortunately this stifles creativity. You have an active In Development section with people who want to be their own characters with their own stories. I’d venture to say the majority of the videos you receive are not video comments.

So my question to you, point blank is this: is it your policy that no EQAL created character will interact or acknowledge via video, a character not created by EQAL? If “no” then why hasn’t it happened?

Either way is totally fine with me but let’s make it clear, interaction is limited to non-characters and there will never be an officially recognized extended universe.

Response: immortal1 - I don’t think it’s fair to say that we only recognize “EQAL” characters. We often reference community members in the videos by username. A username is essentially the equivalent to a character created by a member of the community. We don’t want to stifle creativity and we want to encourage the community created videos - both real and fictional. It is complicated to more fully integrate community created characters and storylines as we must pre-shoot a lot of the videos so that we can organize schedules with cast/crew. We also don’t want to be looked as playing favorites to some community members over others. I’d like to keep this dialogue about this topic going so we can find ways to do even more interaction as we progress with all of our shows. We should talk about further in our live chat.

You don’t have to reply to this, but I just wanted to give my input that I think it would be really great if Yousef was included in the new series. That is, if he wants to be. I adore him and I would hate to not be able to see him anymore either as an actor or as himself.

Response: 4c697a7a79 - the new show has nothing to do with the CBS deal. This is a completely independent show that we are producing. Yes, it lives within the LG15 Universe.

Response: TheNunOwnedGoat - The Nikki B vids originated when Alli D (the actress) and I decided to create our own series of fan videos. At the time I needed a creative outlet (like I didn’t already have enough to do!) and we came up with Nikki B. None of the “creators” or writers of lonelygirl15 were ever involved with Nikki B, except for the few “in game” videos released through the lonelygirl15 account (12 in 12, for example). The first few were done purely for fun and continued because the community responded so positively to them. I wish I could make more videos, but I’m just too darn busy at the moment. But Nikki isn’t gone forever. She will return!
