“You’re always clickin’ and pointin’
pointin’ and clickin’
and clickin’ that thing forever”
Music by: Morningwood
Suggested Listen: Sugarbaby (EP)
Recommended Tracks: Sugarbaby, Best of Me, That’s How You Know It’s Love
Morningwood writes larger-than-life, decadent rock that has a brilliant attitude with loud shades of ‘I just don’t care’ woven into their polished sound. Suits us just fine. It’s nice to hear from a band that is comfortable playing in its shoes. Go see them live and you’ll be converted. This week we will hear three songs from the Sugarbaby EP to bring along the story of Maggie & Co.
The brainchild of badass singer Chantal Claret and bassist Pedro Yanowitz, Morningwood kicks your ass and leaves you smiling for more. I’ll spare you their resumes, but we’re talking about some serious players here. I would say their sound, intensity and drive link them to our show in a serious way. And, David Letterman ranks the Wood among his favorite guests ever. Not bad at all.
And in what’s definitely becoming a trend, I first heard Morningwood on YouTube. Great song, wacky video=letter from me. (Ok, so I’m a sucker for The Muppets).
Chantal and the crew are currently putting the finishing touches on their first full-length release and will tour away most of next year. So check them out, give a listen – leave a note and tell them we sent you.
Have a great Chapter 8.
On the Fly. Off the Cuff. “Best of Me” – Sometimes when you leave someone you end up feeling worse than you ever did when you were with them. And I guess sometimes that someone goes and writes a hit song about how stupid you are for it.
Halloween Plans: My plans for Halloween are pretty standard for any parent. Starts out by getting the hyper little bundles of joy to settle down enough to put their costume on (he is going as Mario and his Cousin is going as Luigi). Then Trick-or-treating until he gets too tired to walk, then realize that he has to walk all the way back home. Half way home the pleading of “JUST ONE PIECE” becomes too much and the parents cave in. Once home my wife and I “search the candy for signs of tampering”(really we just take the most of the mini candy bars out and put them in our private collection). An hour later the kid is plastered to the ceiling, high as a kite on adrenaline and sugar. Finally something in the house will break and the kid will crash and Mom and Dad will end up watching reruns of bad Halloween sitcoms on TV.
FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY!
This is so awesome! Now I have a costume. :) Submit your Halloween artwork to amanda@lg15.com.
Halloween Plans: I’m dressing up as Alice in wonderland and heading out to the city with my brother and all his friends who are dressing up as oompa loompas (all 18 of them!).
Character Costumes: I definately think the gang (I feel wrong calling them TAAG as they aren’t really teens anymore) should dress up as characters from Back to the Future and Reed could be Doc Brown.
Submit your artwork to amanda@lg15.com. Don’t forget about our Halloween Bash tomorrow! We’ll be on the comment board, in chat, live on stickam, and updating on Twitter. There will also be prizes! Ghoulish luck.
