Don’t taunt us with old screencaps of Bree munching a sandwich…! *sob*

  2. Kevin Says:

OH MY GOSH YOU USED CAKE!
    I love them.

    Good music choice :D

  3. misspinaberry Says:

We have to wait until freaking Febuary?! How am I supposed to get through exams without my LG15????

  4. Ben Says:

CAKE is a great band. The chopping up of the track totally messed with my mind, though… knowing what was coming next, but then.. it didn’t. Crazy stuff, there. ;)

  5. Jessica Says:

So let me get this straight…

You are out of ideas for where you would like the series to go, so you’ve decided to ask the community to continue the show FOR you, without actually paying them for doing your work for you.

    Nice.

I am an LG15 fan, but this is bullshit.

  6. Amanda Says:

LG15: The Show Is Yours is about showcasing the talent of the LG15 Community. Come on guys, we have tons of ideas and we know you do too. We just want to take this time to see what you guys have and help bring attention to your talent.

  7. Nick Says:

Jessica, I actually think this is a good idea! Of course I can’t really enter myself since none of my friends would want to help, but I’ll enjoy watching. What’s up with people always bashing everything The Creators do? A lot of people complained about the Resistance and they were wrong, I’m sure they’ll be wrong again.

  8. Kevin Says:

Okay, so I’m planning on entering on this, is there any rules about the music we use in our videos?

  9. Amanda Says:

Kevin - there are no rules regarding what music you can use for your pilot episode. Have fun with it.

  10. Kevin Says:

    Awesome! Thanks! :)

  11. Daniel Jenkins Says:

i’m sorry but i agree with jessica on this one. why would we want to watch a fan run show.
there are already plenty of them ranging from lonefox to cassieiswatching and most ppl dont watch them becoz of camera quality and bad acting, this will most definately be the same.
i for one will watch all of the pilots but if they all have bad acting, editing and quality, i for one will be tuning out of TSIY and perhaps any future Eqal produced shows

  12. Jessica Says:

It’s nice that at least one person around here is rational enough to see what’s going on here.

Creators and blind fans, I don’t think you’re seeing the problem with this.

I completely agree that fans should have the opportunity to showcase their talents, but that’s not why we are here and quite frankly, that’s already happening on Youtube. I am not here on this site because I want to see people’s homemade, low-quality videos sans the actual cast of LG15. I think it’s really awesome that fans would like to make their own spin-offs, but that is a whole separate thing than LG15 itself.

    Imagine it this way…

Twilight is really popular right now, both the books and the movie. Could you imagine if instead of putting out “New Moon” in theaters, they instead held a contest for the fans to come up with their own story for a movie. People would be outraged.

You see, it’s cool and all that you want us to get involved with the direction of the story, but it’s just not the same as seeing the show itself.

And really, creators, this just looks at least from the surface to be a case of lack of ideas and/or willingness to carry on the real LG15…. it seems lazy and quite a bit a slap in the face to those of us who have been here all along.

You leave us with a plethora of loose ends, unfinished plot lines, and cliff hangers galore… only to leave it up to us? Not cool, I’m sorry.

Like Daniel Jenkins, I too will be moving on if this is anything short of what LG15 was and should always be.

  13. Jessica Says:

Just a quick addition to that………

    Here is your solution…

Add another section to your website or another website altogether for the fan-based shows. If we want to watch them, cool, but if we don’t… we can still watch the good ‘ol LG15 as always, on the site.

    Now THAT I could see.

Kevin - there are no rules regarding what music you can use for your pilot episode. Have fun with it.”

What about the TOS on the LG15.com web site. Are those not to be considered rules for the contest?

What about YouTube TOS. It is quite common for people to get take down notices because of the unauthorized use of music.

To say there are no rules is wonderful. The legal reality of todays world is quite a different thing.

  15. Renegade Says:

“Kevin - there are no rules regarding what music you can use for your pilot episode. Have fun with it.”

Just for the record - just like YouTube automatically scanned and reacted to occurrences of LG15’s intellectual property, it scans and reacts to other companies’ IP; my popular (?) video “Unaired Lonelygirl15 Opening Credits” has been taken down the other day because…

“The audio content identified in your video is I Don’t Want To Wait by Paula Cole. We regret to inform you that your video has been blocked from playback due to a music rights issue.”

I realize that the pilots are only supposed to be demos for EQAL, but it would be rather unfortunate if a video was taken down automatically in the middle of the contest. The easiest way to avoid this is using Creative Commons/free music only.

  16. PJ Says:

Wow, how small minded can you get? I’ll admit, the timing of this contest is one and there are so many things that can be inferred from it, but to write off the community’s work as if it were just the same as any crappy fanfiction you’d be reading off of quizilla .

Twilight is a book, LG15 is a webseries, and thus things change. Great authors are out there, and if a book series were to hold a contest like The Show Is Yours, there’s no downside because it’d be the creator of the series themselves picking whatever comes next.

And, I’m not going to lie, I’ve seen the community do impressive things that sometimes have put some of th best episodes of LG15 to shame. Simply put, I don’t think the creators will pick a fan submitted series with a bunch of kids talking into a poor camera with no plot. I think that there are people out there worthy of joining the team and having their stories told. Them not doing something like this is a slap in the face. Could it have been at a better time? Yeah. But at least they’re kinda putting themselves out there to do it. Better late than never…right?

Look at Maddison Atkins, a fan run series with great camera/sound/music solid actors and writing and a story that put hundreds of people to tears. You should really think next time before you put the work of talented people you’ve never met into the mud.

“And really, creators, this just looks at least from the surface to be a case of lack of ideas and/or willingness to carry on the real LG15…. it seems lazy and quite a bit a slap in the face to those of us who have been here all along.”

No it seems like a cool filler to distract us from the fact that EQAL needs more time putting some things together, but they’ve been pumping out content for almost three years without stopping. Even normal TV shows get months worth of breaks between seasons, and they only produce an episode a week. You flipping out on them just because they’ve put your priority on old is very selfish considering how they’ve gone without rest for so long. Have I gotten mad at the creators before? Hell yes. But so what? Things happen and when they do you have to look at it from all sides. Not to mention Amanda is pregnant and you’re certainly not helping out her condition.

  17. Cassi Says:

I think you guys are being a little harsh. And I’m not just a “blind fan” but I believe in the community. For a long time fans have wanted to become canon and be included in the show and they are finally giving that opportunity to some lucky fans. This has been a long-time coming in a lot of people’s minds.

There are some talented people entering.

Apparently there are two different groups in the community - those who want to see more fan integration and those who don’t.

  18. Amanda Says:

If you have specific questions or concerns about your submission - music, the treatment, the length, etc. - please email pilot@lg15.com.

  19. modelmotion Says:

So please explain how this works. If you use copyrighted music and it ends up on the LG15 channel. Who is responsible for paying the damages. And yes I do understand that in most cases it is simply a take down notice, but none the less there are potential damages given that Eqal has a million dollar purse to go after.

Is Eqal, Inc. going to indemnify those who make submissions containing copyrighted material?

  20. Daniel Jenkins Says:

    @PJ-

Firstly Maddison Atkins was written by a professional writer, in fact as friend of Gleen Rubenstein, creator of redearth88 and contributed to LG15.

Secondly, the fact that made the show so involving and moving was that it had great acting, good camera quality and was edited fantastically.e you seen there pilot

The fact is that if all of these things are missing, no one is going to watch it. I’m not knocking fan run shows bcoz if there were all of good quality then the internet would be full of great shows.

Not knocking the Facil1ty but have you seen there pilot, to start they look like they have a good plot for a show, but quite frankly i couldn’t really hear a word that the lady was saying and of the shots that they didnt take from LG15 was so blurry, i had to see if my glasses were still working.
Once again i’m not knocking fan run shows but if this is going to be made canon i want at least a little bit of quality to it.

sorry for the rant but i had to respond to pj’s comment

  21. cittiecait Says:

    really well put pj!
guys lets rememeber EQAL is a “the social entertainment company dedicated to redefining the way we interact with content and with each other” ie its anew type of company, breaking down the barriers between the industry and us its audience.
I mean do you want them to go ahead and produce a show that could possibly be sub-standard in comparision to what they could bring us a couple of weeks or months down the line just because you don’t want to support your fellow fans, who to be honest, if they didnt make fan fiction, didnt keep the lgpedia updated, didn’t meep the night away,lg15 would be dead in the water. they/we keep lg15 alive and kicking, keep it up there with thebest of new content, not only on the internet but throughout all the mediums?

You have to realise that this company and show isnt just about them making the show and us watching it, if it was, bree would have been just another blogger. but she wasn’t, she was part of the massive LG15 COMMUNITY!

cliche and all as it is to end like this,
We are the Resistance: We will not be Stopped!

  22. PJ Says:

    Daniel:

I know all about Jeromy, thanks, and he and Glenn and never spoke before he started Maddison Atkins. I’ve been in a Maddison Atkins video, I’ve worked briefly for Glenn. My point is that he was a fan. Granted, a fan with the right resources who was able to catch the perfect storm

“The fact is that if all of these things are missing, no one is going to watch it. I’m not knocking fan run shows bcoz if there were all of good quality then the internet would be full of great shows.”

I’ve got a little bit more faith in Amanda and the gang than them picking a sub par series to host. There are fans out there that have good cameras, have/ know people with acting talent and the ability to write. I know they’re out there. I’ve seen them. I’ve befriended them. I am one of them.

    and to cittiecait:

We are the community, the show is ours. And we will not be stopped.

    -PJ

  23. Cassi Says:

MM - Amanda said pilot, which to my understanding would be the video that they submit for the contest. After that I assume they have to use approved music and I don’t think the pilot submission will be the actual first episode of their show because they will have to consult with the Eqal staff for that.

Just for the contest they are leaving it open and not limiting fans. Hopefully fans will look into what music they can and cannot use.

Daniel I do believe there are some people with professional credentials within the community that might be submitting pilots. The people who made Madison Adkin’s may have been professionals, but they were also a part of the community.

Eqal hasn’t taken any meaningful break in 3 years, which most web shows do and few produce daily content like LG15. Give them a little slack, they are trying to support a fan production during a hiatus. Just wait and see what is selected before you judge. You might be surprised.

  24. Leanna Says:

I have to say that I have complete faith in this TSIY concept. Don’t you remember Cassie? I was so drawn to that - so involved - my schoolwork suffered. It was amazing! I realize that camera quality and acting are important, but don’t you think that even if camera quality is poor, perhaps the person who wins will have a reason to buy a better camera? Not to mention all the tips and help that EQAL will grant them. I think, in all fairness, regardless of what canon characters a fan has been able to pull in, their show should be allowed a fair chance at winning. EQAL will work with the fans to produce a top notch, fan based show that won’t let the community down; they are a company, much like any other, and you can bet that they won’t risk years of hard work over a low-quality show.

In the end, what is the risk of viewing some poor quality videos now, since they are only pilots? Even if they are not chosen, it is hard to put so much effort into a work like this and then hear the horrible comments of upset fans. I say, if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all; if you won’t put your ass on the line, don’t criticize someone who will.
