Who are you dressed as this Halloween?

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Veela-Valoom made her own pirate costume for Halloween this year. In this video, she describes what an LG15 pirate would plunder.

In other videos, she sends a Halloween greeting to the LG15: The Resistance characters and then demonstrates how she put her costume together.

In true LG15 style, Mitch decided to be the mysterious Lord Carruthers for Halloween!

Send pictures of your Halloween costumes and costume ideas to amanda@lg15.com.

Halloween Plans: My plans for Halloween are pretty standard for any parent. Starts out by getting the hyper little bundles of joy to settle down enough to put their costume on (he is going as Mario and his Cousin is going as Luigi). Then Trick-or-treating until he gets too tired to walk, then realize that he has to walk all the way back home. Half way home the pleading of “JUST ONE PIECE” becomes too much and the parents cave in. Once home my wife and I “search the candy for signs of tampering”(really we just take the most of the mini candy bars out and put them in our private collection). An hour later the kid is plastered to the ceiling, high as a kite on adrenaline and sugar. Finally something in the house will break and the kid will crash and Mom and Dad will end up watching reruns of bad Halloween sitcoms on TV.

FUN FOR THE WHOLE FAMILY!

This is so awesome! Now I have a costume. :)  Submit your Halloween artwork to amanda@lg15.com.

Halloween Plans: I’m dressing up as Alice in wonderland and heading out to the city with my brother and all his friends who are dressing up as oompa loompas (all 18 of them!).

Character Costumes: I definately think the gang (I feel wrong calling them TAAG as they aren’t really teens anymore) should dress up as characters from Back to the Future and Reed could be Doc Brown.

Submit your artwork to amanda@lg15.com.  Don’t forget about our Halloween Bash tomorrow!  We’ll be on the comment board, in chat, live on stickam, and updating on Twitter.  There will also be prizes! Ghoulish luck. :)

And the winner is…

Over the past past few weeks many of you have changed your avatars, submitted spooky Halloween graphics, and even carved LG15 inspired pumpkins.  Keep these submissions coming because prizes will be given out during our party.  I’m especially interested in seeing LG15 inspired costumes and videos.  C’mon people, there will be prizes!!!

See you on Thursday.

Chapter 7 Music - Killola

“Digital umbilical…
The bottlenecking ones and zeroes
are drowning out the songs of heroes and…”

Music by: Killola
Suggested Listen: “I am the Messer” (2008)
Recommended Tracks: Strung Out on Sunshine, All of My Idols are Dead, 10,000 Pound Ego

Killola write. Killola play. Killola relentlessly promote. This four-piece band led by the venerable and sassy Lisa Rieffel is the first we signed up for LG15: The Resistance. The music kicks ass and drives scenes; their attitude is just right. Lots of punk, lots of garage. Definitely a good time. Killola brings a good time as much as they kick your ass. And they’re big fans of the show! We’ve been waiting to drop them on you for months. And the time is finally here.

Killola has been taking the world by storm since 2003 when they first started gigging around the LA indie punk scene. They embrace the Internet and have reaped the benefits all over the globe. Killola spent May 2007 touring the UK for the first time on the strength of their first single “Barrel of Donkeys”. (Check out the free “Live in England” sessions on Killola.com). They released their 2008 album “I am the Messer” on USB wristband drives and went back on the road playing 27 shows in 32 days this fall. They have no plans to let up and will be heading back out on the road in early 2009. “Messer” is raising quite a buzz in the indie world and blog circles, these guys are just getting started. Mark my words.

You might have seen Lisa R. as “Daisy” in the online series “Girltrash!” If you haven’t, go check out her performance. Lisa and guitarist Johnny Dunn also host “The Lisa and Johnny Show” on Dave Navarro’s Spread Radio Live every Monday night at 8PM (EST). Tune in, it’s a good time for sure.

Thanks to the folks at digilabel True Anthem, Killola is offering, “I am the Messer” for free on their website, commence downloading…now.

On the Fly. Off the cuff.

“Strung Out on Sunshine” – Creepy, cool. Great hook. Call KROQ. This song is a hit.

“All of My Idols are Dead” – Catchy song to say the least. Lots of heart. My idols are dead too, everything’s changin’. “This information overload is poison.”

“10,000 Pound Ego” – Speaks for itself. I wouldn’t want to piss Lisa off either.

About the artwork: It literally came to me when I was laying down to go to bed sleep Friday night.  People have said they were meepaholics in the past, so it all just came together. :)

I guess LG15 also causes sleepless nights!

About the artwork: Javi was talking about f5 paradise and I thought of f5 as being a super hero.

Halloween Costumes

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

Artwork by Veela-Valoom

Halloween Plans: I have to work on Halloween, but we all dress up at my work because kids come and trick-or-treat in downtown Corbin.  So that day I’m wearing my Ginny Weasley costume that I’ve used in the past.  Saturday the 1st my co-workers are having a Halloween party.  I’m currently making a pirate costume for that occasion….which is quite an interesting experience in itself.  I’m not a master sewer by any stretch of the imagination (expect pictures and maybe even a video from this experience….cause it should be amusing).  And of course I’m going to be at the forum Halloween party!

Submit your Halloween artwork and videos to amanda@lg15.com.

Live Video Chat! Friday at 3:00 PM PST (6:00 PM EST)

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

The following announcement was made from the Hymn of None:

As we move forward in our battle against the enemy, it has become increasingly clear that some of you remain suspect of our intentions. This does not benefit our cause. It is counterproductive and a waste of time. In order to rectify this problem immediately, the Hymn of None has decided to allow one of its most valued agents to appear before you.

This Friday, October 24th at 3 PM PST (6 PM EST), said agent will participate in a live video chat here on LG15.com.

You will be able to ask questions. But know that you may be asked questions in return.

Prepare as you see fit.

Halloween Plans: I’m going to take my toddler cousins out so they can go trick-or-treating and then head to a Halloween party with some friends.

My pick for Sarah’s Costume: Knowing Sarah, I think that she would go with something a little more…. adult…. Like a French maid or something.

Scissors For Lefty

“Oh sadder days
No longer, we should celebrate
No Miserables”

Music by: Scissors For Lefty
Recommended Listen: EVERYTHING
Suggested Tracks: Next To Argyle, Give Me Your Brights, Consumption Junction

New Contest Alert! – Autographed Band/Cast Member CD Giveaway, Deadline Saturday October 25th.

THIS WEEEK we continue our three-part showcase of featured music in the show from the best bands appearing this week in the 2008 CMJ Festival in New York City. Now entering the ring, San Francisco’s very own, Scissors For Lefty! I love them. So should you. Ding Ding.

SFL is a favorite band to hail from the potent San Francisco indie scene and one that really has a chance to go all the way. You might have seen them on tour with Arctic Monkeys, Blonde Redhead, Shiny Toy Guns or The Fratelli’s. They get compared to The Killers but I don’t really get why, it’s not even close. A wise man once said, “If Scissors For Lefty were an article of clothing, they just might be your favorite sweater.” They just stick like that, glamour and all. Songs are filled with ecstasy, agony, loneliness and a certain swagger that ties the whole thing together, and it’s beautiful.

New Contest Alert!

One of the many reasons we psyched to be working with Scissors is the chance to preview/debut two brand spanking new songs from their upcoming untitled LP due later this year. This is a real honor for us and we hope you let the guys know how grateful we are to hear them all week in Chapter 6. The guys in SFL will autograph a copy of their brand new record, along with the two cast members of your choice. This will be a one of a kind deal to commemorate the show. Entering is simple. Invade the SFL myspace, LG15 style. Comment, embed, friend, message – you name it. TAKE IT OVER, bring them here. We will be lurking and give the CD to our most active community member with the announcement coming Saturday morning as decided by the band. Commence invasion…now.

On the Fly. Off the Cuff.
Next to Argyle – A classic on anyone’s playlist, including Sarah.

Give Me Your Brights (brand new) – Deep. Fuzz. Dive.

Consumption Junction (brand new) – What have we become?
