LG15 Questions and Comments
With the upcoming changes to LG15.com and the end of the lonelygirl15 series (read the original message here and Amanda’s follow-up here), there have been quite a few questions about the future. People have a lot of concerns about the end of lonelygirl15, the new show in the LG15 universe, and the new website that is coming soon.
There will be a live chat with the community to answer some of these questions. (The date will be announced on Inside.) In addition to that, Virginian9000 suggested some type of live blog where people can send in their questions or concerns.
So post your questions, comments, or concerns as comments here. To provide an easy-to-read method of response, we will post responses on this page. Obviously, not everything can be answered, but we will reply to as many of these as possible with as much detail as we can provide. Please be patient if we don’t respond right away - it’s a very busy time for the cast and crew!

Great question, but I wouldn’t want to ruin the finale for everyone. Until then, we cannot release specific details about the plot of the new show.

You don’t have to reply to this, but I just wanted to give my input that I think it would be really great if Yousef was included in the new series. That is, if he wants to be. I adore him and I would hate to not be able to see him anymore either as an actor or as himself.

I’ve been actually agonizing on whether I should get involved in this discussion again. It’s hard not talking about the past. but I think Apo said what needed to be said in that regard. I really believe a lot of hurt feelings could be avoided if you were absolutely clear about what you mean by your EQAL concept. Miles said, “The most important thing to us is the interaction between the characters, the show, the community members, and the community videos.”
Based on past history I take this to mean you want community members to make video comments as themselves and offer opinions and advice. Unfortunately this stifles creativity. You have an active In Development section with people who want to be their own characters with their own stories. I’d venture to say the majority of the videos you receive are not video comments.
So my question to you, point blank is this: is it your policy that no EQAL created character will interact or acknowledge via video, a character not created by EQAL? If “no” then why hasn’t it happened?
Either way is totally fine with me but let’s make it clear, interaction is limited to non-characters and there will never be an officially recognized extended universe.

I was at the beach today (English Bay, Vancouver, BC) and i saw some filming being done.. it kind of look like the same techniques that you guys would use in your show.. are you filming anywhere around here? Or was it just a fluke?

Starting from the bottom:
Traverse - yes, the videos will still be uploaded to YouTube.
modelmotion - we will have an answer tomorrow.
Virginian - that is too specific, you’ll have to wait and see
immortal1 - I don’t think it’s fair to say that we only recognize “EQAL” characters. We often reference community members in the videos by username. A username is essentially the equivalent to a character created by a member of the community. We don’t want to stifle creativity and we want to encourage the community created videos - both real and fictional. It is complicated to more fully integrate community created characters and storylines as we must pre-shoot a lot of the videos so that we can organize schedules with cast/crew. We also don’t want to be looked as playing favorites to some community members over others. I’d like to keep this dialogue about this topic going so we can find ways to do even more interaction as we progress with all of our shows. We should talk about further in our live chat.

4c697a7a79 - the new show has nothing to do with the CBS deal. This is a completely independent show that we are producing. Yes, it lives within the LG15 Universe.

I have been watching the LG15 series since the WAY beginning. The LG15s first vid was popular on youtube and so i’ve seen every single episode! I also remember thinking how real the series was at the beginning, until it got leaked. I still remained a fan, even after learning it was a production. Everyone on the LG15 team deserves SOMETHING for your hard work!!LOL i understand all good things seem to come to an end. I know you guys and the production team probably want to leave LG15 in a good note instead of a bad note! you guys are definitely leaving it with a good note! and i will continue to watch what ever the production team comes up with next!!

I have a general question about your plotting / writing process for future shows… Will the “relaunch” be another open-ended story like lonelygirl15 once was, or will future shows be conceived, written, and produced with a full story arc sketched out ahead of time? In other words, is the writing approach going to be build a structure, and fill it in as time goes on, or build a beginning, and let things evolve freely as time goes forward?
If the structure of the story is more predefined, will the timeframe (in terms of approximate number of episodes or months) be revealed to the audience or kept secret until very near the end?
I’m assuming here that there will be opportunities for some level of “interactivity” with fans, but that the main story lines will not really depend on fan actions in-story, however much the presentation of the story is influenced by fan reactions. Is this correct, or do you see fans actually determining story outcomes more directly in some way?

Can you assure us that no historical information will be lost from LG15.com as happened with the last set of changes? This is a major concern on people’s minds and a clear and unambiguous statement of intent by the Creators/webmaster would go a long way to resolving it.

As a follow up to milowent’s question, if the forum will be replaced, and there are no plans to archive the current forum as part of the new forum, I would much rather you lock all threads on the current forum and leave it right where it is, for reference, than to totally delete it. I wasn’t around, but apparently, when the current forum came to be, a previous forum was just wiped out, or at least major parts of it. I don’t want that.

Hey Greg, do you really think a live chat is the best way to work out details for something this complicated? Why not a discussion thread? This issue has been around for a long long time. It is time to nail it down once and for all don’t you think?

Then they should do it. We have waited 2 years for answers. We are still waiting or the chat with Greg that was supposed to take place after the Word wide comments boycott. How long ago was that?

I think there is a very big difference between the creation of a fictional character and the use of a screen name to play out TINAG. They are quite different entities.

That makes sense to me. We definitely do not want historical information wiped out and clearly we need assurances that this WILL NOT HAPPEN one way or the other.

Last night there was a discussion of whether or not cassieiswatching had ever posted on the discussion boards. The consensus was no.
As it currently stands I believe moderators on LG15.com currently have the ability to track an IP and hence expose the identity of a PM. Will the new site have any privacy guidelines that will prevent non Eqal employees (such as a moderator) from “peekng behind the curtain” and will there be assurances that no Eqal employee will ever disclose such information. Or should any PM just stay off the new LG15.com web site if they wish to protect the curtain?

Will the new site have threaded discussion phorums? Although I loved the KM production, I found Bebo’s lack of a way to have in-depth discussions on cluez, my usual rants, in-character threads, absurd Gaylien chic, etc. fairly limiting.
The Phorums are your history. They are the heart and soul of LG15. The comment board is OK but there is no way that something like that can support a mystery-based plot.
Second question: Will BK get a raise?

TheNunOwnedGoat - The Nikki B vids originated when Alli D (the actress) and I decided to create our own series of fan videos. At the time I needed a creative outlet (like I didn’t already have enough to do!) and we came up with Nikki B. None of the “creators” or writers of lonelygirl15 were ever involved with Nikki B, except for the few “in game” videos released through the lonelygirl15 account (12 in 12, for example). The first few were done purely for fun and continued because the community responded so positively to them. I wish I could make more videos, but I’m just too darn busy at the moment. But Nikki isn’t gone forever. She will return!

Thia has been a fun and great run for us all. It’s sad but we all knew it would one day have to come to an end. I have no doubt that greater thing will be coming in the future and that all the people involved will have wonderful futures.

Yes, I would love it if you went back to uploading by different characters on their own accounts. It just seemed so much more real. A shadow posting a music video on the lonelygirl15 account is probably the fakest thing this show has accomplished - sorry
I understand that the other accounts were not recieving as many views of that as Bree’s account, but with the new show, comes new fans (and old ones like me) who will subscribe and watch ALL channels.
